Sterling silver, 6 carat total gem weight Sapphire Rough Cut diamond ring. Rough cut gemstones enable you to buy a huge precious gemstone at a very low price. While rough cut gemstones do not have a lot of fire, they are true ruby or sapphire color. So September babies rejoice! Diamond content is .02 carat in J-K color and I3 clarity. Sapphire, a member of the corundum family of gemstones, is generally blue in color, from cornflower blue Ceylon sapphires, to dark blue Australian sapphires, to right royal blue Burmese sapphires, and everything in between. The most common treatment for the enhancement of color is heat treating. In the heat treating process, rough un-cut sapphires are heated to 1700-1800 degrees Celsius, which improves both color and clarity. All sapphires that SuperJeweler sells are heat treated for the enhancement of blue color and clarity.

Nice blue color

I has been watching this ring for a while, so I thought the holiday price cut would be a good chance to try it out. I bought it to wear as a middle finger ring, not on the ring finger, as pictured in the ruby version of this ring. The setting sits up a big higher than I envisioned it, but is still lovely. The blue color in the stone that I received is very deep dark blue, almost black looking in some lighting. I really love the color. There are 4 tiny diamond chips embedded in the pattern around the main stone. The light barely catches them, but they are different enough that the wearer can appreciate the subtleties.One thing that prospective buyers should keep in mind is that rough cut stones may have some slight scratching that is visible on the surface from the cutting process. I personally don't think it takes away from the ring since the stone is unpolished, and the character it adds to the stone is one of the reasons why you'd purchase a rough cut stone in the first place. However, some people may not appreciate it. One of the things I love most about rough cut stones are the large facets. Although the stone is not polished and has no fire (it is not transparent at all), the facets still reflect some light in an interesting pattern.Overall, I am pleased with the purchase of this ring.

costume saphire ring

i was expecting a more quality looking piece. It looks ok online, but cheesy up close and personal. and what do you expect for $50 ? A little better than a dime store ring, but not much.The color is much more flat than it looks online. Don't expect any sparkle whatsoever. I think the setting makes the ring look cheap more than the stone , and again the picture online is better looking than the ring itself. Also, the stone has a scratch on it. I suppose you don't get sapphire rings worth having for less than $600. Sorry to be so bleak. There may be some who would consider it lovely, but not moi.
